Stacey,

Interesting topic...my wife, a mother of 2 soon to be 3, struggles with floor "play" time, but really takes a keen interest in other aspects of the kids lives. She is a homeschooling mom who loves to create structured time involving crafts and educational games. It works for her, yet she tells me there are things she just doesn't enjoy doing on a regular basis. I guess everyone is different and provides attention to their children in their own way!

Of course you can! Once the words are spoken out here, they belong to the world. It's good to be back. I've missed my friends.:)

Lisa - I agree, I don't believe in judging other moms either. You don't know what it's like to be in another moms situation until a similar situation is happening to you. You are a floor mom - I'm in awe. Horray for you for knowing your authentic voice and living your authentic truth.

Wendi - Hi my friend! "I had to live authentically while raising my kids, so they could see who their mother really was." - OMG - Can I use that quote on my blog. Love it, love it, love it. Your words are beautiful. It's great hearing your voice again.

Hi Stacey!

Long time no comment! I think I don't comment often on a lot of the mom conversations is JUST because of this very thing! I am a MOM but I am so much more than just a mom that I often feel that I don't want my role as a mom to define me anymore. Sigh. Then I feel bad saying that. But, it is what it is. I have been a mother for 32..almost 33 years come January and I still have a 12 year old daughter living at home. If I hadn't found a way to balance out the creative and intellectual aspects of my nature with my role as a mom by now, my children would have been raised by a blithering nut job who had lost her marbles long ago. Sitting on the floor and playing with the tinker toys and signing up for the PTA was never enough for me. It felt like looking out the window on a rainy day and watching life pass me by. I had to live authentically while raising my kids, so they could see who their mother really was.

Thanks for this. Heading over to sign up right now!

Stacey,

I love your blog! I like the new look too. I have been at home for almost twelve years with my kids and I can't think of anything else I'd rather do. However, I never wanted to do anything else either! After years of infertility and failed adoptions, I am exactly where I want to be! I am the floor mommy, the one everyone drops their kids off with, the one who always has kid food on her clothes. I used to think other moms judged me for my lack of education, or choices I made in order to stay at home all the time. I think knowing yourself, what you need, is the key to being a good mom. Whether that takes you to work, school or keeps you home, just knowing yourself enough to know you need more is huge. Besides mom who judge other moms suck!

Ok, YES.

Chris and I don't have children yet but because of my childhood background I've thought about what I want to do a lot. And I know I'm wouldn't be happy being a stay at parent.

So that paragraph speaks VOLUMES to me.

Anastasiya - After spending 20 minutes looking for my son's shoes (yes, we were late for his doctor's appointment and school) I felt a sigh of relief when I read Holistic Mama's post. Thanks for your feedback regarding my pictures and my names. I went back to Create a Balance this morning. I'm thinking I can keep Create a Balance and shift the energy of the sight to focus on Moms' natural inner wisdom. More to think about...more to play with on my sight. I'm sure more changes will be showing up soon. I'm officially in experimenting mode. I really appreciate your thoughts!

Thank you Stacey for this post. Today I had a pretty stressful day with my twins and definitely didn't feel like a floor-mommy at all. Thank you for sharing the article that you've found on Holistic Mama. That's a great website and I've already joined the list.
Regarding your new design, I really like the pictures that you've put in the sidebar. It gives your website such a warm family feel.
With the name - I personally liked the old one better. Natural Inner Wisdom Playground is a great title but it is a little too long for a blog, too difficult to remember. And I like the word "Balance" anyway. It just sounds good to me :-)
